Composition:
The active substance of the drug is cytisine.
1 film-coated tablet contains 1.5 mg of cytisine.
Excipients: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, glycerol dibehenate, hypromellose.
Dosage:

- A person who has given up smoking must not allow himself to smoke even one cigarette under any circumstances.

Action:
Cytisine contained in Desmoxan has a similar effect to nicotine. Because of this similarity, once absorbed into the body, it behaves like a "substitute" for nicotine. It binds to the same receptors, blocking nicotine's access. As a result, it reduces the symptoms of nicotine craving and nicotine dependence.
Indications:
The drug is used to treat nicotine dependence. The use of Desmoxan achieves a gradual reduction in the body's dependence on nicotine and weaning off smoking without nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

Contraindications:
When not to use Desmoxan drug?

Side effects:
Like any drug, this medication can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
Side effects most often occur at the beginning of treatment. Most side effects disappear during treatment. These include: fatigue, malaise, fatigue, tearing, irritability, change in appetite (mainly increase), weight gain, headache, dizziness, feeling of heaviness in the head, sleep disturbances (insomnia, drowsiness, strange dreams, nightmares, sluggishness), anxiety, difficulty concentrating, weakened sex drive, accelerated or slowed heart rate, increase in blood pressure, shortness of breath, increased expectoration, dry mouth, excessive salivation, gastrointestinal disorders (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, heartburn), burning tongue, taste changes, muscle pain, rash, increased sweating, decreased skin elasticity.
Warnings and precautions:
Desmoxan should be used only by patients who have a serious intention to quit smoking. The use of Desmoxan and smoking may lead to an increase in the adverse effects of nicotine.
If the following diseases are present:
ischemic heart disease, heart failure, cerebrovascular diseases, arterial patency disorders, hypertension,
- pheochromocytoma of the adrenal glands,
- gastric and duodenal ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease,
- hyperthyroidism,
- diabetes,
- some forms of schizophrenia,
- kidney and liver failure; - if the patient is elderly (over 65 years of age).
- and if the patient is over 65 years of age, consult a doctor before taking the drug.
Use of other drugs:
Tell your doctor about all medications you are currently or recently taking, as well as medications you plan to take.
Desmoxan may interact with:
- theophylline,
- tacrine,
- clozapine,
- ropinirole.
For women using hormonal contraceptives, it is recommended to use an additional barrier method (such as a condom).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suspect that you may be pregnant, or if you are planning to have a baby, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this drug.
Do not use this drug during pregnancy and lactation.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents:
Do not use in children under 18 years of age.
