Chaste (Cistus Incanus) appears in numerous legends and traditional recipes, often taking on other names, as an ingredient with unusual properties. In Andalusia, it is called the "tears of Christ" because of the purple color of the base of each of the five white petals. Knowledge of the medicinal properties of chaste dates back to the 4th century BC. In the Middle East, northern Africa, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean coasts, it was used in the form of an infusion to improve mood, give courage and boost immunity.
In the 20th century, scientists became interested in the extraordinary properties of the plant. Technological advances made it possible to precisely analyze the content of its individual components. It was discovered that the therapeutic effect of purge is associated with a surprisingly high content of polyphenols, which increase resistance to bacterial and viral infections and strengthen blood vessels. Moreover, they have antioxidant properties that reduce the amount of free radicals in the body, delay the aging process and prevent cell mutations that cause cancer. It has also been discovered that polyphenols contained in chaste improve the condition of the skin by reducing the activity of collagenase (an enzyme responsible for the breakdown of collagen).
Puree acts as an antioxidant and supports the human immune system. It also prevents DNA cell damage and removes free radicals. Astragalus manifests antibiotic properties, acts anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. It inhibits the growth of viruses, reduces allergic reactions, prevents ischemic heart disease and delays the aging process (it has a positive effect on bacterial flora, flushes out toxins and heavy metals, increases bone density).
It is used in colds, boosting immunity and gastrointestinal infections. Recent scientific research confirms that purgative offers hope for those being treated for Lyme disease. "Scientists say: lyme disease is caused by tick-borne spiral bacteria that remain in the human (animal) body. However, in the presence of Cistus Incanus they become enveloped by it and thus inactivated." Additionally, it acts as an insect repellent.
Puree used sporadically does not produce measurable benefits. It should be used for a minimum of 4 weeks, then we can see the effects.
