Espumisan contains the active substance simethicone, which is an agent used in disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, reducing foaming of gastrointestinal contents and used as an aid in diagnostic tests.

Composition:

The active substance of the drug is simethicone.

1 ml capsule contains 40 mg of simethicone.

Excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), gelatin, glycerol (85%), orange yellow, FCF (E 110), quinoline yellow (E 104).

Dosage:

This drug should always be used exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose of Espumisan in gastrointestinal complaints associated with excessive gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract is:

Children over 6 years, adolescents and adults: 2 capsules, 3 to 4 times a day

- Espumisan drug can also be administered to patients in the postoperative period after consultation with a doctor.

- Espumisan drug can be taken immediately before, during or after a meal, if necessary, also before bedtime.

- Treatment should be carried out until the discomfort subsides, but no longer than 14 days without constulation with a doctor.

Action:

The active substance of the drug, simethicone, causes the bursting of gas bubbles, contained in food masses and in the mucus of the digestive tract. As a result, gases, released through this pathway, can be absorbed through the intestinal wall or removed from the gastrointestinal tract by peristaltic movements of the intestines.

Indications:

Espumisan is used:

- in the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal complaints associated with excessive gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract, such as flatulence,

- in the case of increased gas formation during the postoperative period

- in the preparation of patients for radiological and ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity and gastroscopy.

Contraindications:

When not to use the drug Espumisan:

- in case of allergy to simethicone,

- in case of allergy to orange yellow, methyl parahydroxybenzoate or any of the other ingredients of this drug.

Side effects:

So far, there have been no reported adverse reactions associated with the use of Espumisan.

Warnings and precautions:

- If new and/or persistent abdominal discomfort occurs, consult a physician to determine the cause of the discomfort and diagnose a possible disease requiring treatment.

- Do not store at temperatures above 30ºC.

Use of other medications:

Tell your doctor about all medications you are currently or recently taking, as well as medications you plan to take.

Interactions with other drugs are not known.

Use of the drug with food and drink:

This drug can be taken immediately before, during or after a meal, if necessary, including before bedtime.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suspect that you may be pregnant, or if you are planning to have a child, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this drug.

Due to the effects of simethicone and the lack of its absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the body, no harmful effects are expected from the use of Espumisan during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
There are no clinical data on the use of Espumisan in pregnant women.

Use of the drug in children and adolescents:

Do not use in children under 6 years of age.
