Melis-Tonik - oral liquid, 100 ml capacity

The drug Melis-Tonic is in the form of an oral liquid traditionally used in states of excessive nervous tension. The product is a herbal medicine, containing macerates of: lemon balm leaf, chamomile basket, hawthorn inflorescence, angelica root and caraway fruit. Melis-Tonic is intended for adults and children over 12 years of age.

Composition:

The active substance of the drug is a liquid extract composed of: lemon balm leaves, hawthorn inflorescence, chamomile basket, angelica root, caraway fruit.

100g of the product contains:

- 82g Extractum fluidum ex (compound liquid extract) (1:5):

• Melissae folium (lemon balm leaf) - 6.56 g
• Crataegi inflorescentia (hawthorn inflorescence) - 5.74 g
• Chamomillae anthodium (chamomile basket) - 1.64 g
• Archangelicae radix (angelica root) - 1.64 g
• Carvi fructus (caraway fruit) - 0.82 g
• extractant: ethanol 40% (V/V)

- 20.5 g of honey (excipient).

The product contains about 30 - 35% v/v ethanol.

Dosage:

This drug should always be used exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The drug is administered orally. Traditionally, the dosage of Melis-Tonic in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 3 times a day a teaspoon (about 5 ml) of the preparation diluted in 1/4 glass of water.

Indications:

Melis-Tonic is traditionally used as an auxiliary agent in states of excessive nervous tension.

Contraindications:

Do not use Melis-Tonic in persons with hypersensitivity to the active substance, chamomile or other plants of theAsteraceae family(Asteraceae, formerly Compositae), to caraway or other plants of the umbelliferous family (Apiaceae) (fennel, anise, celery, coriander and dill), to mugwort or birch or to any of the other ingredients of this drug.

Side effects:

Like any drug, this medication may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.

In very rare cases, a hypersensitivity reaction to chamomile (such as contact allergy) may occur. People who are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae family (Asteraceae, formerly Compositae), e.g. wormwood, may experience a cross-reaction. With internal use, cases of severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock, asthma, facial swelling, hives) have been reported very rarely.

Warnings and precautions:

The product contains 30-35% (V/V) ethanol (alcohol). A single dose of the drug (5 ml) contains about 1.4 g of ethanol, equivalent to 35 ml of beer or 15 ml of wine. This is a harmful dose for people with alcoholism.

It is not recommended to use the drug in people with liver disease, cholangitis, anaemia, cholelithiasis and other disorders of the biliary tract due to the content of cumin fruit. Due to the content of angelica root, sunbathing and intense UV radiation should be avoided during the period of use of the drug due to the possibility of UV radiation converting furocoumarins into carcinogenic forms.

Store the drug out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this drug after the expiration date on the package.
Store in closed containers, at a temperature not higher than 25˚C.

The preparation may affect the ability to drive motor vehicles and operate mechanical devices in motion.
